Head Coach Bob Bafia - Longhorns Head Coach and Program Director
Coach Bob Bafia served as Head Baseball Coach at Cal State University Dominguez Hills for 13 years and had 45 student athletes sign professional baseball contracts during his tenure. He was involved with Connie Mack youth baseball and has participated in baseball camps and clinics for the past 20 plus years. Coach Bafia also served as Associate Scout for the Cincinnati Reds for 5 years. Coach Bafia is the current Head Coach and Program Director of the San Diego Longhorns Baseball Club.

Coach Wayne Abel - 9U  Coach
 For over seven years, Coach Wayne Abel has been very much involved with youth sports.  Coach Wayne started playing baseball at the T-ball level and never stopped playing through the Little League and Babe Ruth organizations.  A three-year varsity team member at Cresenta Valley High, Coach Wayne's skill and love for the game allowed him to continued playing baseball into college.  Coach Wayne has been coaching with the Longhorns for 2 years where he is currently a Coach of the 9U Orange team.

Coach Robert Bafia Jr. - Assistant Head Coach, Infield and Hitting Coach
 Coach Robert Bafia earned First Team All PACC, Team MVP, and 1985 MVP Best in the West Classic while playing on a full baseball scholarship for Fresno State University where he lettered each year. Coach Robert was drafted in the 6th round of the 1985 MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs. The next 9 years he played professionally for the Cubs and Oakland A's. During his playing tenure for these clubs he also attended the Arizona Instructional League for 6 years, where numerous Major league coaches, managers, scouts, and players tutored him. Coach Robert also played in Mexico and Italy. During the off season, Coach Robert volunteered his expertise as a baseball instructor at Wake Forest University and Mendocino Junior college. Over the past several years Coach Robert has given his time to private instruction and assisted in numerous clinics and baseball camps for youth baseball, high schools, and colleges. Coach Robert Bafia is the son of Longhorns Head Coach Bob Bafia. Coach Robert is currently coaching with the Orange County Flyers of the Golden State Independent League and is the Assistant Head Coach of the San Diego Longhorns Baseball Club, Infield and hitting coach, and 13U Coach.

Coach Eric Detamore - 10U General Manager and Coach
Coach Eric Detamore has been involved in youth sports for over 10 years as a parent and coach. Coach Eric has coached multiple sports and played Mens Senior Baseball up until a few years ago and is still playing mens softball. Coach Eric and his son, Jake, are both veterans of the Longhorns organization. Together with his wife, Carol, they handle the day-to-day duties of General Manager and Coach of the 10U Longhorns team.
Coach Joe Henderson - 11U, 12U and 13U Co-Manager and Coach
A product of San Diego baseball, Coach Joe Henderson grew up playing baseball locally at Clairemont Hight School and San Diego Mesa Junior College. Coach Joe was drafted in the second round of the 1980 MLB January Draft as a 3rd baseman and pitcher. Later, Coach Joe converted to a catcher. He played in the Minor Leagues with the San Francisco Giants (1980 – 1981), Milwaukee Brewers (1982 – 1983), Chicago Cubs (1984 – 1986). Coach Joe was responsible for many years of recreation center programming, with an emphasis on youth sports leagues/activities, seasonal camps and clinics with the City of San Diego Parks & Recreation Department. Coach Joe has been involved with Little League Baseball as a coach and All-Star manager for 15 plus years and travel ball elite baseball manager and coach for 5 plus years. Before the Longhorns, coach Joe has managed and coached with the East County Scorpions and the San Diego Sluggers. Currently, Coach Joe Henderson is the 14U Longhorns Co-General Manager and Coach, and the 10U Co-General Manager and Coach.

Coach Jeremy Waller - 9U and 10U Coach
Coach Waller has been with the organization for 3 months and brings his family baseball values and abilities to the game. Coach Waller was a standout highschool player that moved on to play college and excel at baseball. He joins the organization with his high energy and baseball knowledge and will help the young horns become better baseball players by teaching the fundamental baseball skills.

Coach Joe Henderson - 11U, 12U and 13U Co-Manager and Coach
Coach Ron Hudgins grew up playing baseball as a San Diego local.  Coach Ron played his high school baseball days at Crawford High School where he earned team awards as Most Valuable Player (MVP) his Junior and Senior years.  He was selected City 2nd Team All-CIF as a utility player and was honored as the CIF City/County MVP his Senior year. Coach Ron played baseball for Brigham Young University where he received an athletic scholarship.  For the last several years, Coach Ron has been a volunteer coach for a variety of youth sports in the East County.  Coach Ron has been involved with the Longhorns organization since their inception and is currently the 14U Longhorns Co-General Manager and Coach, and the 10U Longhorns Co-General Manager and Coach.
Coach Phil Nevin - Consultant
Coach Phil Nevin is a retired Major League Baseball player. He played for the Minnesota Twins (2006), Chicago Cubs (2006), Texas Rangers (2005-2006) San Diego Padres (1999-2005), Anaheim Angels (1998), Detroit Tigers (1995-1997), and Houston Astros (1995). Coach Phil attended California State University, Fullerton where he was awarded the Golden Spikes Award in 1992. He was also the "Most Outstanding Player" of the 1992 NCAA College World Series. Coach Phil was selected as the first pick of the 1992 Major League Baseball Draft by the Astros. During his twelve-season career, Coach Phil was a .270 hitter with 208 home runs and 743 RBI in 1217 games. He made the National League All-Star team in 2001. The former manager of the Orange County Flyers in the independent Golden Baseball League, Coach Phil is currently the manager of the AA Erie Sea Wolves (Detroit Tigers).
