Announcing The Merger Of The San Diego Falcons And SDL Rookies With The San Diego LonghornsThe San Diego Longhorns, San Diego Falcon and SDL Rookies are excited to announce the merger of their three well respected travel ball organizations into one organization covering at a high level league ages 8 through 18. In continuing with long standing goals of all three organizations, the joint goal of the merged travel ball organization is to help our players develop advanced baseball skills, knowledge and attitude to help prepare them for high school and college competition. For the foreseeable future (or until our older Longhorns grow out of there current uniforms), our league age 8 through 14s will continue to be known as the San Diego Longhorns and continue to be lead by Director of Coaching, Bob Bafia. Ron Hudgins and Joe Henderson will continue to coach our Longhorns in the middle school age years, while Jim Huber will continue to coach our Falcons 11U team. The high school level teams will continue to be known as the San Diego Falcons and be lead by SDL Rookies’ founder, Josh Glassey. Joining Josh at the High School level are well respected baseball coaches Robert Bafia, Mike Hymes, Mark Viramontes, Pat O’Hara, Chase Peckham, and Jory McEachern. All coaches’ bios are found at the Coaches’ section of our website. This merger adds to our program a well established high school level travel ball component. Our high school level program will focus on providing our teams and players the highest level of training and competition available. The goal of the program is to help student-athletes gain recognition as baseball players, as well as students. During our players’ high school years, our program will provide professional instruction that will enhance each player’s skills thereby providing each player the skills necessary to find a college program that would be appropriate for such player. Our program will also teach the players the finer points of the game, while emphasizing the importance of education and professionalism, on and off the baseball field. These teams will play in a June – early August league that is “complementary to” and not “in competition with” the high schools programs, and will play the other top high school level travel teams in San Diego and Orange and LA Counties. An active fall program is also available for our high school athletes from September through November with optional tournaments in December. |
