A native San Diegan, Joe graduated from Clairemont High School and attended Mesa Junior College, before embarking on a professional baseball career after being drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 4th Round of the 1980 January Draft. Joe was selected to the San Diego Section CIF team in 1978. Joe went on to play six seasons in the Giants, Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs farm systems. Primarily a catcher, Joe also played both 3B & 1B during his minor league career. Joe was selected as a Catcher to the Texas League (AA) All-Star team in 1983. Joe comes to the Longhorns as the youngest member of a San Diego Baseball Family. Joe's father (Joe Sr.) was a professional baseball scout for a number of major league organizations for nearly 30 years. Joe's oldest brother (Ken) played in the major leagues for 13 years with the San Francisco Giants, Chicago White Sox, Atlanta Braves, Texas Rangers, New York Mets, Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs. Joe's middle brother Rob attended UCLA on a baseball scholarship, and was an All Pac-8 third basemen his Junior Year. Rob went on to pitch in the Chicago Cubs and San Francisco Giants farm systems. Joe has managed travel ball baseball teams for the last 17 years, the last 13 years with the San Diego Longhorns. Joe lives with his wife Lisa in Rancho Bernardo, and his son Casey played baseball on scholarship at UC Riverside and Chico State, after playing at Rancho Bernardo High School. |

Coach Bob Bafia served as Head Baseball Coach at Cal State University Dominguez Hills for 13 years and had 45 student athletes sign professional baseball contracts during his tenure. In 2010, Coach Bafia was inducted into the Cal State University Dominguez Hills' Athletic Hall of Fame and his number "99" jersey was retired. Coach Bafia was also involved with Connie Mack youth baseball in the LA County area and has participated in baseball camps and clinics for the past 20 plus years. He has served as Associate Scout for the Cincinnati Reds for 5 years. Coach Bafia is the current Head Coach and Program Director for the 8U-14U San Diego Longhorns Baseball Club and a pitching coach for many of the Longhorns top pitchers. |

Robert Bafia is a head coach for our 18U, 17U, 15U teams and an infield instructor for our 8th grade to college players. Robert Bafia, together with his father, Bob Bafia, are the Co-Founders of the San Diego Longhorns Baseball Club. Robert has coached nationally recognized Longhorns teams. Robert was a two year all CIF Player at Cerritos High School, first as a shortstop as a junior and then as at 3B as a senior. Robert received a full scholarship to play college baseball at Fresno State where he earned First Team All PACC, Team MVP, and 1985 MVP Best in the West Classic. Robert was drafted by the Cubs in the 8th round of the 1985 Pro Draft. For the next 9 years, Robert played professionally for the Cubs and Oakland A's. During his playing tenure for these clubs he also attended the Arizona Instructional League for 6 years, where numerous Major league coaches, managers, scouts, and players tutored him. Robert also played in Mexico and Italy. During the off season, Robert volunteered his expertise as a baseball instructor at Wake Forest University and Mendocino Junior college. Over the past several years, Robert has given his time to private instruction and assisted in numerous clinics and baseball camps for youth baseball, high schools, and colleges. Robert was also the Assistant Head Coach of the Orange County Flyers of the Golden State Independent League. Robert is the son of Longhorns Head Coach Bob Bafia. |

Mike Ramazzotti

“Coach Ram” moved to San Diego from Northern California in 2008 and has been coaching travel ball (ages 10U-18U), high school, and collegiate baseball for the last 8 years. Prior to coaching in San Diego, Coach Ramazzotti played baseball at Santa Rosa Junior College and New Mexico Highlands University.
After college, Coach Ramazzotti signed to play independent professional baseball with the El Paso Diablos of the American Association. In 2007 he signed with the Italian Professional Baseball League for one season. Coach Ramazzotti is dedicated to helping players of all ages develop into the best players they can become. He prides himself in having attention to detail, great communication, and teaching players how to enjoy the game the right way.
Mike previously served as an assistant coach at University of San Diego (USD) and current is an assistant coach at UCSD. |

Coach Greg McSparran is a former professional pitcher and certified professional pitching instructor with more than 25 years of coaching experience. A Tom House disciple, Greg combines experience-driven knowledge with diligent instruction and innovative teaching methods to help pitchers maximize their potential. He pitched for the San Francisco Giants and the University of San Diego, making the USD 1980's All-Decade Team and top 10 all-time in single season wins and strikeouts at USD, and was a former pitching coach at Mission Bay and Scripps Ranch High Schools. |

Glenn Godwin

Glenn joins the Longhorns with a long baseball history as a player, coach and scout. Growing up in San Diego, Glenn played High School at Patrick Henry and pitched his college baseball at San Diego Mesa and the University of San Diego, where he earned All American honors his senior year leading the nation in strike outs. Selected in the 7th round of the 1982 draft, Glenn went on to pitch three seasons in the A's organization along with international stops in Australia and Holland.
Following his playing career, Glenn served as pitching coach for University of San Diego for 13 years in addition to 5 seasons at San Diego City College. During the summer months, Glenn traveled overseas coaching internationally throughout Europe. He coached in Sweden over an 18 year period. Glenn also worked for MLB in their Envoy program during this time, a grass roots project designed to assist baseball development throughout Europe and Africa. Throughout his coaching career, Glenn was involved in youth development throughout Europe and Africa, in addition to coaching for several National team programs. He was the National Coach for Sweden for 5 years along with several national pitching coach assignments in Spain, Czech Republic, Poland and Norway.
Glenn transitioned to scouting in 2003 and has been with the Minnesota Twins the past 17 seasons. Serving mainly as the International Scout for Europe & Africa, in addition to assisting in Southern California. |

Niko HolmCoach

Coach Niko Holm grew up in San Diego playing for and against the Longhorns throughout his many years of travel ball. Niko prepped locally at Rancho Bernardo High School and was a member of the 2013 CIF championship team. Niko was a two time all Palomar league selection and led the Broncos Varsity Team in batting average his senior year (.407).
Niko played on scholarship and was a starting corner infielder/outfielder at Santa Clara University in 2017-2018 Niko graduated from Santa Clara University with a BA in Communications and a Minor in History. Previously, Niko also played at Palomar Community College from 2015-2016 and was selected to the All League Team and was an All-American at the junior college level in 2016.
Niko moved into coaching as an assistant coach for the Bend Elks of the West Coast League in the summer of 2018. Niko came back to the Longhorns organization in 2018, coaching with the Longhorns at various age levels. Simultaneously, Niko served as an assistant coach at Palomar Junior College, working with catchers and hitters in 2018-2019. Niko was selected to be the head coach of a summer collegiate team in the Sunset League in 2019.
Most recently, Niko has accepted an assistant coach position at San Diego Christian College in 2020, where he works with infielders and hitters, while also assisting with the recruiting of high school players. Niko is pursuing his masters degree at San Christian College as a graduate assistant coach.

Rich DahlbergCoach

Coach Rich Dahlberg prepped locally at Mira Mesa High School, and was selected to the San Diego Section All Western League team. Rich went on to pitch for San Diego State University from 1983-1985.
Rich has been coaching for over 20 years and is a former Patrick Henry High School Pitching Coach. Rich spent 10 years in girls fast pitch softball where he coached the Power Surge 1999 team to win the 2012 ASA California State Championship and the ASA 2012 National Championship.
He came back to baseball in 2016 and has been coaching with the Longhorns ever since. With an emphasis on pitching, he instructs the pitching staffs on our younger teams on proper mechanics and pitch development. |

Brett VolgerCoach

Brett Volger grew up in San Diego and prepped locally at La Jolla High School. As a young travel ball player, Brett played against Longhorns teams and was coached by now Longhorns coach, Mike Ramazzotti. An infielder by trade, Brett was a 4-year Varsity player at La Jolla High School and still holds the school record for most games played. While at La Jolla High School, Brett was a two time 1st team All Western League selection. Brett played collegiately at San Diego Mesa College and Colorado Mesa University, and went on to graduate from San Diego State with a degree in political science
Brett coached locally at La Jolla High School, joining the Longhorns in 2017 as an assistant coach. Brett works with various Longhorns teams and currently manages the 9U team.
